Pacelli 11th grade students take the PSAT test in October each year. This test can open students up to many scholarships, including the National Merit Scholar Program. The PSAT/NMSQT are highly relevant to your future success because they focus on the skills and knowledge at the heart of education. They’ll measure what you learn in high school and what you need to succeed in college. The best way to prepare for the test is to:
● Take challenging courses
● Do your homework
● Prepare for tests and quizzes
● Ask and answer lots of questions
In short, take charge of your education and learn as much as you can.
ATTENTION HORMEL EMPLOYEES:
The PSAT/NMQST is the only test that the Hormel Foods Corporation will accept for their scholarship program. These scholarships are available to the children of current, retired, or deceased employees of the Hormel and its subsidiaries. In no instance will any officer or employee of the Hormel Company play a part in the selection of scholarship winners or monies to be awarded. The NMSQT Corporation handles the entire award process.
Interested students should contact Austin Public High School to register for the PSAT. There is a fee of $18. Once the fee is paid, students will receive the Sutdent Guide to the PSAT/NMSQT that gives detailed information about the test along with practice test questions and a link for additional test-taking tips.
The ACT® test is the nation’s most popular college entrance exam accepted and valued by all universities and colleges in the United States. The ACT is based on what students learn in high school and provides personalized information about their strengths for education and career planning. Registration for the ACT must be done online. Deadlines for registering for the ACT are generally 5-6 weeks before the test date. ACT Fee Waivers are available for students who meet the criteria.
More information and test dates can be found at www.act.org
